Vaniyambalam Railway Station
Vaniyambalam Railway Station is one of the most important stations on the Nilambur - Shoranur railway line. It is located about 3 km from Vandoor town.
Key features of Vaniyambalam Railway Station:
- Beginning: Railway travel facilities began to be available in Vaniyambalam in 1927. This line was built during the British rule to transport teak logs from the Nilambur forests.
- Wartime damage: During World War II (1941), the British demolished the rail tracks on this line for war purposes. Later, the line was restored and traffic resumed in 1953.
- Natural beauty: This is one of the most beautiful railway lines in India. The huge Vaniyambalam rock seen in the background of the railway station gives this station a special beauty. The trees and greenery on both sides of the line make the train journey a great experience.
- Travel facilities: This is the main station for those in the areas of Vandoor, Kalikavu, Chokkad, and Karuvarakkundu to travel to Nilambur, Shoranur, and Kozhikode.
- Surroundings: Vaniyambalam Chantha and Vaniyambalam Rock are located near the station.
